Alumni Spotlight: Brilliance in Action

image.png

Meet Iris Perkins.

Iris is one of hundreds of Inside Out alumni making a BIG impact in her world. This one is extra close to our heart because we give  a portion of all of our revenue to Girls Leadership, an organization that could not exist without women like Iris.

What professional win are you celebrating since attending Inside Out's weekend event?

I assembled my team for the summer and I couldn't be more excited to have a group of talented bad-ass woman serving the adolescent girls enrolled in a transformative program my organization hosts.

Attending Inside Out this winter brought me closer to trusting my internal voice. That was key in hiring the staff for our summer program. I might have hired individuals who looked really strong on paper, but who missed the key component of loving the work with young girls. I trusted myself to require candidates to have a passion for my organization's mission. The candidates I found are gems.

What recent challenge did you overcome?

I've accepted the value in my vulnerability. I used to  fear that people would take advantage of my vulnerability and my most authentic self. Now I know that is not true. My strength is my ability to lead with love and to be vulnerable while also being an authentic version of me.

What is important to you now?

Leading with love. I am all for radical change through love and I am open to learning from the experience of leading with love.

What are your top 3 values right now?

I am obsessed with my values! They are the biggest gift I received from Inside Out.

  1. Connection

  2. Joy is Simple

  3. Just Dance

What is one piece of advice you want to give to other women?

There is a gift to leading. Remember it is about the lessons along the way. Appreciate those who are on the journey beside you.
